I’m Alex Bamford, Director and CTO at Eyoto. My work focuses on taking complex medical technologies from early concept through engineering, regulation, commercialisation and real-world deployment.

Why engineering

Engineering gave me the perfect balance between problem solving, technology and medical science. The aim has always been practical: build systems that help people directly.

Eyoto

I joined Eyoto after graduating from Aston University, originally through a PhD route that quickly became full-time R&D. Since then, I’ve helped take Aetheia from concept to a deployed remote eye care platform.

Leadership

I try to lead by giving people ownership, explaining the reasoning behind decisions, and creating space for people to make decisions, learn quickly and build confidence.

Mission

Technology should remove barriers, not create them. Healthcare can be transformed by systems that make specialist assessment more accessible, scalable and consistent.
